"The Department of Music at the Université de Moncton welcomes saxophonist and composer Joel Miller to present a jazz workshop on Friday, February 21, at 1:30 p.m., in the Neil-Michaud Room, located in the Fine Arts Pavilion of the Arts Building on the Moncton campus.
Miller will share his expertise in the field with students in the department and will also work with members of the Université de Moncton Jazz Ensemble. The ensemble is currently preparing the program for its end-of-year concert, which includes some of the Montreal composer’s works.
Joel is a Juno Award-winning jazz saxophonist and arranger who has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival and toured with jazz greats such as Brian Blade (Daniel Lanois and Emmylou Harris).
His most recent album, UNSTOPPABLE, is the result of Miller’s studies with contemporary composer and professor John Rea and conductor Guillaume Bourgogne, and features an 18-piece orchestra comprised of Montreal’s most sought-after freelancers in jazz, classical and Latin music.
Joel’s compositions, improvisations, albums and live performances continue to be recognized with awards (Juno 2012, ECMA 2012, 2016, 2021). Most importantly, his music communicates joy, celebration, humour and curiosity about our incredible planet.
Admission is free and open to the general public."
