Blue Green Algae: *INFO on OUR DRINKING WATER.Also Ponds closed to recreation at Irishtown Park, Centennial Park, Jones Lake.

Yesterday's (June 24) Times Transcript has a story about our Moncton water supply and what they're planning to keep us safe from blue green algae...
Highlights:
- the two reservoirs Moncton uses are Turtle Creek and Tower Road. The article says they have enough water to last a pretty substantial drought (11 months or something without rain!) (still, please conserve water)
- blue green algae was previously found at the Tower Road reservoir but we have a system to handle the problem.
- new improvements are coming to safen up water treatment even more in case of more blue green algae.

Facebook Marketplace Scam Awareness!

CBC News has a story about a lady in Fredericton who sold something on Marketplace and instead of the person paying her $30, they stole $3000 (*or tried to) from her account. How? It seems like she received a message about the e-transfer with a link... when she clicked that link, the lady thought she was logging into her banking site but the criminal was actually able to steal that banking log-in info (and steal money.)

April 2nd in Hockey History is a Magical, Record-breaking Day!!

There's something about April 2nd in hockey history... If you have a hockey game today, something magical might happen! If you don't have a hockey game, or don't know how to skate, consider going to the rink anyway and see what happens because...

- April 2nd 1980 Wayne Gretzky, in his first full NHL season, scores one for Edmonton and becomes the youngest player to score 50 goals. He was 19! (Edmonton tied the North Stars 1-1.)

- April 2nd 1980 Montreal Canadiens' Guy Lafleur scores a couple and becomes the first player to have six straight 50 goal seasons! (Habs beat the Red Wings 7-2.)

- April 2nd 1983 New York Islander Mike Bossy becomes the first player to score 60 goals in 3 consecutive seasons! (his goal helped the Isles beat the Penguins 6-3.)

- April 2nd 1985 Wayne Gretzky gets his 34th career hat trick which is an NHL record. (Oilers beat the Kings 6-4.)

- April 2nd 1985 Nordiques center Peter Stastný gets his 100th point of the season for the 5th year in a row. (Nordiques beat the Bruins 6-4.)

- April 2nd 1986 Edmonton Oiler Paul Coffey nets his 47th and 48th of the season which breaks Bobby Orr's NHL record for most goals by a defenseman. (Oilers beat the Canucks 8-4.)
