It's National Thrift Store Day

MoneyWise has a great article titled "20 fabulous thrift store finds worth up to $200 million" https://moneywise.com/life/lifestyle/incredible-items-found-at-thrift-stores
Sweet Fancy Mama!! Can you imagine going thrifting and finding some kind of million dollar treasure!?
Highlights from the article...
--- The $13 costume jewellery ring that sold at auction for $455,000. It wasn't costume jewellery after all. The owner thought it was b/c, you know, she only paid $13 for it!
She wore it around the house (in what I'm assuming was a reckless manner... probably doing yard work and punching holes in things... idk) until finally having it appraised. Turns out it was a 26 carat diamond!
--- a guy name Mike bought bought a nice reproduction of the Declaration of Independence at a thrift shop in Nashville in 2006. Because it was a really good reproduction, Mike was willing to pay the $2.48. Later, it turned out to be a rare John Quincy Adams official copy of the Declaration of Independence which
sold for almost half a million!!!
--- In 2012, a guy named John saw a cool bag in a thrift shop... it had a picture of Elvis on it. A cool handbag with Elvis on it?! Sure, I'll pay the $30... later John saw some markings on the bag indicating that it was a designer handbag... he took it to a designer handbag shop and they were able to give John a bit more info... turns out the Elvis picture was by artist Andy Warhol. Only ten of these handbags were ever made!! The $30 handbag was actually around $450,000!!!
--- 1992: A lady name Teri bought a great big ugly thrift store painting for $5. She thought it would make her friend laugh. The friend thought it was funny but didn't really have room for the oversized monstrosity, so Teri took it back home. Teri tried to sell it at a garage sale, but an art teacher encouraged Teri to hang onto and get the painting checked because, maybe, it was a Jackson Pollock?? Teri got a forensic specialist involved and there was tracing of fingerprints and paint samples... it has been traced back to Pollock's studio and Teri has been offered $9 million for the art. BTW, the article says she's hold out for $50 million.
--- not a thrift store find, but I like to imagine that anyone of us could find a similar thing, maybe on our way to the Thrift Store today?! ... a guy in the Philippines found this cool rock which he brought home and put under his bed for good luck... you know, like normal people do with rocks... the rock stayed under the bed for 10 years or so... long story short, the rock was the largest pearl in the world at 2 feet long and 75 pounds. It was worth $100 million!!
